Audition

Screenshots & Features

Listed below are some of Audition's features. Click on the hyperlinks to see some screenshots of specific features.

Overall

You've probably used tools on the web that looked like they were designed by monkeys and tested by masochists. This is not one of those. Audition sports a clean, easy-to-navigate user interface (and looks dead sexy.)

Built with bands in mind

Audition has been conceived and created to exactly what it does: manage band websites. It's not a message board, or a blogging tool, or something else; it takes the difficulty and drudgery of managing a band website out of your hands.

Audition doesn't dictate how your site should look; it encourages freedom. Want to run a site entirely out of Flash, and use Audition to power the content behind the scenes? Go ahead! Want to turn off some of Audition's more exotic features, in favor of a simpler, back-to-basics approach. Do it! At the end of the day, your site will look exactly as you intend; Audition gets out of the way.

Rich Text Editing

Audition 1.2 integrates FCKEditor, one of the most popular rich text editors on the web, allowing you to see exactly how your text is going to look, before you save that change.

Non-destructive content removal

Audition allows most pieces of data to be deactivated, rather than removed entirely from the system. After all, who knows when you might want to invite that one band member back to the party.

Secure

While Audition allows band members to add and edit their own content, they cannot edit what others's post; only the administrator has full control over everything.

Multimedia(7 screenshots)

Audition can handle virtually any kind of audio and image type, and will even automatically create thumbnails (these thumbnails can even change size, depending on the area of the site!)

Is the file you need already on a website somewhere? Is it already on your site? Audition handles both situations with ease? Need to migrate from an existing website?

New in 1.2 - Streaming Audio Support

Hook up a Shoutcast server, and you can select any audio file uploaded to your website as "streamable only." This file will be played through the Shoutcast server, and be protected from download.

Add multiple files at once

Migrating from an existing website to Audition? With one click you can import an entire directory filled with photos, and ensure that they're sized correctly, and that thumbnails are generated.

While you can add media to releases, band members and shows, you're not bound solely to these areas of the site. The general media section of Audition allows you to setup a library of files that don't necessarily have to be associated with shows, releases or band members. Create categories and sub-categories; add the same file to different places. Audition makes it easy.

Links

A good band has a lot of friends. The Audition links module lets you easily add links to other sites of interest.

Playing Live(11 screenshots)

One list to rule them all

Create a master list of every show you've ever played, including venue, date, time, whether the show was all ages, notes and other bands who also played.

Venues make your life easier

Once you've played somewhere, that venus is present in an easily accessible list, which can be searched by city and state/province. When you play there again, you won't have to find its information; simply select its state, then city, and then choose the venue itself. You'll never have to search for addresses and phone numbers again.

Completely searchable

Audition's searchable show index lets your fans get the show information they want, when they want it. Your underage fans can search for your next all ages show; you old-timers can search for shows that have media added to them, to find that one compromising picture they only vaguely remember; and your bassisst can remind himself: where did you play last year on his birthday?

The simplest tour creator of all time

Specify a start date and an end date, and a tour is born, comprised of all shows that fall between those two dates.

Band News & Information

Band members can post general band news, as well as band-member-specific blog entries.

Define your band's bio, and its location. The location then becomes the default city/state for all your shows.

Your Discography(7 screenshots)

Audition lets you keep so much information about a release you can practically assemble liner notes on the website.

Lots of information

Every release gets information like release date, title, notes and press notes.

Tracks

Add tracks to release, and you have a place to store per-track information, lyrics and audio pertaining to the track.

Band members & guest performers

Associate band members and guest performers with releases, and give your fans all the information they want.

That's a lot of features!

Yes, it is - but it really doesn't do Audition justice. Check out the online demonstration!
